What: Red-breasted Merganser
Where: Barnegat Lighthouse State Park (Barnegat Light, NJ 08006)
When: Winters (during late Jan- late March on Northern East)
How: Photographers- telephoto lens with a fast shutter capable camera.

Another medium sized diving duck having black upper parts, rust-brown breast, white belly, green head, double crests and neck, and white neck ring. Females are brown-gray with gray-washed, red-brown head, double crest and white breast and belly. Feeds mostly on small fish.
